Add a Personal Email Account - Samsung Galaxy Tab® 2 (10.1)

Note The Backup Assistant Plus Email (Sync and Connect) service was discontinued on 3/16/16.

  1. From a home screen, tap Apps Applications icon (located in the upper right).

  2. From the Apps tab, tap Settings.

  3. Tap Add account.

  4. Tap Email.

  5. Tap Others.

  6. Enter the following information then tap Next.
    Note If necessary, tap (check Check box icon ) Show password to enable or disable.
    Note The email address used in the images below is an example.
    • Email address
    • Password

  7. If auto-configure is successful, skip to step 12. Otherwise, select one of the following.
    • POP3 account
    • IMAP account

  8. Enter or select the appropriate information in the following fields then tap Next.
    • Username
    • Password
    • POP3/IMAP Server
      Note If you're not sure what your server info is, here are some common personal email server addresses. Contact your email provider if additional assistance is needed or your server info isn't listed.
    • Security type
      • None
      • SSL
      • SSL (Accept all certificates)
      • TLS
      • TLS (Accept all certificates)
    • Port
    • Delete email from server
      • Never
      • When I delete from Inbox

  9. Enter or select the appropriate information in the following fields then tap Next.
    • SMTP server
    • Security type
      • None
      • SSL
      • SSL (Accept all certificates)
      • TLS
      • TLS (Accept all certificates)
    • Port
    • Require sign-in.
      Note Enabled when a check mark Check box icon is present.
      Note If applicable, ensure the appropriate Username and Password are entered.

  10. Enter or select the appropriate information in the following fields then tap Next.
    • Email check frequency
      • Never
      • Every 15 minutes
      • Every 30 minutes
      • Every hour
    • Select Sync email to enable or disable.
      Note Enabled when a check mark Check box icon is present.
    • Select Notify me when email arrives to enable or disable.
      Note Enabled when a check mark Check box icon is present.

  11. From the Account options screen, configure the following settings as appropriate then tap Next.
    Note Available options vary depending upon the type of account.
    • Peak schedule / Off-peak schedule
      • Never
      • Every 15 minutes
      • Every 30 minutes
      • Every hour
    • Tap Sync email to enable or disable.
      Note Enabled when a check mark Check box icon is present.
    • Tap Notify me when email arrives to enable or disable.
      Note Enabled when a check mark Check box icon is present.

  12. Enter the following information then tap Done.
    • Give this account a name (Optional)
    • Your name (Displayed on outgoing messages)

  13. Tap Done with Accounts.
