Device Settings

Application Settings

  1. Launch BlackBerry Link.
    Note From the Windows desktop, click Start > All Programs > BlackBerry > BlackBerry Link.
  2. Click the computer tab (located in the lower-left).
    Note The name of the tab will vary depending upon the name of the computer.
  3. Click Settings ( Settings icon gear icon located in the upper-right).
  4. View/configure the following settings:
    • General
      • Open BlackBerry Link when you log in to your computer
        Note Selected when a check mark is present.
      • Open BlackBerry Link when a device is connected
        Note Selected when a check mark is present.
      • Minimize to system tray
        Note Selected when a check mark is present.
      • Automatically download updates for your device software and BlackBerry Link
        Note Selected when a check mark is present.
      • Device backup location
        Note To change location, click the folder icon located to the right of the location field. Navigate to and select the desired folder then click OK.
    • Pick your desktop music source
      Note Click the drop down menu then click the desired option (e.g. Windows Media Player, iTunes, etc.).
    • Pictures, Video and Documents
      Note The libraries in BlackBerry Link are set up automatically and display content from your existing Windows Libraries. You can add or remove Windows Libraries folders when you view them in BlackBerry Link.
  5. Click Close Settings (located in the lower-right).

Note The functionality to import from Outlook was added to the 1.1.1 release of BlackBerry Link.

Import Contacts/Calendar

  1. Launch BlackBerry Link.
    Note From the Windows desktop, click Start > All Programs > BlackBerry > BlackBerry Link.
  2. Click the device tab (located in the lower-left; to the right of the computer tab).
    Note The name of the tab will vary depending upon the name of the device.
  3. Click Import Contacts/Calendar (located on the left; below 'Restore Device').
  4. From the Import Your Contacts and Calendar Appointments section Select the appropriate Outlook profile from the drop down menu.
  5. Click to select the data to import.
    Note Selected when a check mark is present.
    • Contacts
    • Calendar appointments
  6. Click Next.
  7. Click Finish.

Device Settings

  1. Launch BlackBerry Link.
    Note From the Windows desktop, click Start > All Programs > BlackBerry > BlackBerry Link.
  2. Using the provided USB cable, connect the BlackBerry 10 smartphone to the computer.
  3. Click the device tab (located in the lower-left; to the right of the computer tab).
    Note The name of the tab will vary depending upon the name of the device.
    Note If presented, enter the device password.
  4. Click Settings ( Settings icon gear icon located in the upper-right).
  5. View/configure the following settings:
    • General
      • Back up my device
        Note Selected when a check mark is present.
        • Daily
        • Weekly
        • Bi-weekly
        • Monthly
      • Select data to include in your backup files
        Note Selected when a check mark is present.
        • File name
        • Application data
          Note Selected when a check mark is present.
        • Media
          Note Selected when a check mark is present.
        • Settings
          Note Selected when a check mark is present.
    • Synchronization
      • Automatically sync content
        • Music
          Note Selected when a check mark is present.
        • Pictures
          Note Selected when a check mark is present.
        • Videos
          Note Selected when a check mark is present.
        • Documents
          Note Selected when a check mark is present.
      • Computer import folders
        • Music
        • Pictures
        • Videos
        • Documents
    • Wireless Sync
      • Turn on wireless connections to my computer
        Note Selected when a check mark is present.
    • Log Files
      • Create Log File
  6. Click Close Settings (located in the lower-right).

  1. Launch BlackBerry Link.
    Note From the Macintosh desktop, click Finder > Applications > BlackBerry Link.
  2. Click the computer tab (located in the lower-left).
    Note The name of the tab will vary depending upon the name of the computer.
  3. Click Settings ( Settings icon gear icon located in the upper-right).
  4. View/configure the following settings:
    • General
      Note Selected when a check mark is present.
      • Open BlackBerry Link when you log in to your computer
      • Open BlackBerry Link when a device is connected
      • Automatically download updates for your device software and BlackBerry Link
      • Device backup file location
        • Change
    • Libraries
      • Music / Videos
        Note Your Music and Video libraries are populated with content from your iTunes library.
      • Pictures
        Note Your Photos library is populated with pictures from your iPhoto library.
      • Documents
        Note To add/remove libraries, click the plus (+) or minus (-) symbol located below the 'Documents' field, navigate to the appropriate location then click Open.
  5. Click Close Settings (located in the lower-right).
