Change Device Password - Samsung Galaxy S® 4

Note If using Microsoft® Exchange / Corporate sync, some screen lock options may be unavailable.

  1. From a Home screen, tap Apps (located in the lower-right).
    Note These instructions apply to Standard mode only.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Lock screen.
    Note If unavailable, tap the Menu icon Menu (located at the bottom-left) then tap Switch to list view.
  4. Tap Screen lock.
    Note If presented, enter the current pattern, PIN, or password.
  5. Tap one of the following:

Pattern

Note An unlock pattern is created then utilized to access the device.

  1. Draw an unlock pattern (connecting at least 4 dots) then tap Continue.
  2. Re-draw the pattern then tap Confirm.
  3. If presented with the Set backup PIN screen, enter a numeric PIN (4 to 16 digits) then tap Continue.
    Note If not presented, skip to step 5.
  4. Re-enter the numeric PIN then tap OK.
  5. From the Settings screen, select a lock screen notification option then tap Done.
    • Show all content
    • Hide sensitive content
    • Do not show notifications

PIN

Note A PIN number is created then utilized to access the device.

  1. Enter a numeric PIN (4 to 16 digits) then tap Continue.
  2. Re-enter the numeric PIN then tap OK.
  3. From the Settings screen, select a lock screen notification option then tap Done.
    • Show all content
    • Hide sensitive content
    • Do not show notifications

Password

Note A password is created then utilized to access the device.

  1. Enter a password (4 to 16 characters) then tap Continue.
  2. Re-enter the password then tap OK.
  3. From the Settings screen, select a lock screen notification option then tap Done.
    • Show all content
    • Hide sensitive content
    • Do not show notifications
