Samsung Galaxy S® 4 - View Battery Status

Note Apps and processes are listed from highest to lowest percentage of power consumption. Review any high or unusual battery drain.

  1. From a Home screen, tap Apps (located in the lower right).
    Note These instructions apply to Standard mode only.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Battery.
    Note If unavailable, tap the Menu icon Menu (located at the bottom-left) then tap Switch to list view.
  4. Tap Show battery percentage to enable or disable.
    Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    Note When enabled, remaining battery percentage appears in status bar.
  5. Review the battery manager for percentage of remaining battery life and charging status.
    Note When not charging, time left on current charge is displayed.

    Charging at lower rate
    AC
    Charging at standard rate, preferred method
  6. Review battery usage percentages for apps and systems (e.g., Android OS, Screen, etc.).
  7. Tap the battery history graph.
    Note Battery history graph displays the time since it was last charged at 100%.
  8. View the history of battery usage.
    • Battery Usage line graph.
    • Color coded Mobile network signal bar graph.
      Note Signal strength has an effect on battery life.

      Gray
      Good
      Gold
      Moderate
      Yellow
      No Signal
      Red
      Scanning
      Black
      Radio Off
    • Color coded bar graphs for Wi-Fi, Awake, Screen on and Charging.
      • Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi radio is on/off.
      • Awake: Running tasks/apps, however the screen is not necessarily on.
      • Screen On: Indicates the screen is visible, not in standby.
      • Charging: Indicates when a device is plugged into a charger and charging.
        The charging line shows periods of partial charging since the last complete charge.
