Verizon Smart Family™ - Website - Add or Remove a Blocked Call or Contact

Note Notes:

  • To perform the steps below, you need to:
    • use a desktop or laptop computer with an updated web browser (e.g., Chrome™, Edge, Safari®, etc.).
    • sign in using a My Verizon user ID or mobile number that has Account Owner or Manager access privileges.
    • ensure the child device is powered off prior to adding or removing blocks, restrictions, limits, etc.
  • Steps apply to Smart Family subscribers who want to block and unblock numbers.
    Note To block and unblock numbers from the Spam Controls page, refer to the Spam Controls FAQs page.
  • Phone numbers, email addresses, international numbers, screen names and messaging short codes can be blocked with Smart Family.
  • These steps do not apply to prepaid accounts.


  1. From a web browser, sign into My Verizon.
    Line note If using a smartphone or tablet, refer to the Android® or Apple® iOS instructions.
  2. From the My Verizon home screen, navigate: Plan > My Plan & Services > Manage Verizon Smart Family.
  3. From the list of devices (at the top), ensure the appropriate mobile number (that the block should be applied to) is selected.
  4. From the left menu, click Limits & Controls to expand.
  5. Click Contacts.
  6. Click the Blocked contacts tab.
  7. Perform any of the following:
    • To add a number:
      1. Click Block a contact for this line.
      2. Enter the name and 10-digit number then click Save.
        Note The blocked caller hears a recording stating that the customer is unavailable.
    • To remove a number:
      1. Click Unblock (to the right of the blocked number).
      2. To confirm, click Yes, get rid of it.
    • To block/unblock unknown numbers or outgoing *411 calls, select the following:
      • Block outgoing *411 calls
      • Block restricted, unavailable and private numbers.
        Note Selected (blocked) when a check mark is present.
