Verizon Smart Family™ - Website - Add or Remove a Trusted Contact

To add or remove Trusted Contacts (mobile numbers that won't be blocked from calling/messaging you regardless of the Smart Family restrictions you've set up), view this info. For additional info on Smart Family, visit our Smart Family FAQs.

Note Notes:

  • Trusted contacts can always be reached by phone or text, even during restricted times.
  • To perform the steps below, you need to:
    • use a desktop or laptop computer with an up to date web browser (e.g., Chrome™, Edge, Safari®, etc.).
    • sign in using a My Verizon user ID or mobile number that has Account Owner or Manager access privileges.
    • ensure the child device is powered off prior to adding or removing blocks, restrictions, limits, etc.
  • These steps don't apply to prepaid accounts.

  1. From a web browser, sign in to My Verizon.
    Line note If using a smartphone or tablet, refer to the Android® or Apple® iOS instructions.
  2. From the My Verizon home screen, navigate: Plan > My Plan & Services > Manage Verizon Smart Family.
  3. From the list of devices (at the top), ensure the appropriate mobile number (that the trusted contact should be applied to) is selected.
  4. From the left menu, click Limits & Controls to expand.
  5. Click Contacts.
  6. Click the Trusted Contacts tab.
  7. Perform any of the following:
  • To add a number:
    1. Click Trust a contact for this line.
    2. Enter the name and 10-digit number then click Save.
  • To remove a number:
    1. Click Remove (to the right of the trusted number).
    2. To confirm, click Yes, get rid of it.
