Soft Reset - Samsung Galaxy S® 4 mini

Soft reset can resolve issues like continuous resetting/rebooting, device crashing, freezing, won't ring or vibrate, can't make or receive calls, device locks up, and keypad doesn't respond.

Note Notes:

  • A soft reset (turning the device off then back on) is similar to restarting a desktop computer and is one of the first steps in troubleshooting a device. A soft reset won't affect data on the device.
  • If the device is unresponsive, remove then re-insert the battery in place of the steps outlined below.


  1. Press and hold the Power button (located on the right-edge of the device) until the 'Phone options' prompt appears then release.
  2. From the 'Phone options' prompt, tap Restart.
  3. From the 'Device will restart' prompt, tap OK to confirm.
    Note Allow up to one minute for the restart process to complete.
