If you are upgrading your existing Verizon device, follow these steps to activate before proceeding with the instructions below.

Caution To avoid potential issues, review the following:

  • Accounts (e.g., Gmail, email, etc.) should be set up after activating the device (see Related Topics).
  • If performing first time (out-of-the-box) setup, ensure the SIM card is inserted.
  • To activate the device on prepaid service, refer to Set up Verizon Prepaid Service.

  1. If the screen is blank, press and release the Power button (located on the right edge, above the volume buttons).
    Note If the device is powered off, press and hold the Power button until the Motorola logo appears then release.
  2. From the Welcome screen, select a preferred language then tap Start.
  3. From the Activation screen, wait for the activation to complete (approx. 1 minute). When presented with the Your new Verizon Wireless phone is now active screen, tap Next (located at the bottom).
  4. From the About your privacy screen, tap Accept and continue.
    Note To review Motorola Privacy Policy, tap Privacy settings, tap View Motorola Privacy Policy (located at the bottom) then tap Back Back icon (located in the lower-left) to return to the About your privacy screen.
  5. From the Contacts screen, disable Sync contacts then tap Next.
    Note Disabled when a check mark is not present.
  6. From the Add Email Accounts screen, tap Skip.
  7. From the Got Google? screen, tap No > Not now.
  8. From the Setup Wizard section, review the Summary and tap Done.
