Motorola Connect - Android

Note Motorola Connect allows you to view text messages and calls coming into your Connect enabled phone on your computer's Chrome browser. You can read and respond to texts using your keyboard and even know who's calling before deciding if you should reach for your phone.

Note To utilize Motorola Connect, the following is required:

 

Enable or Disable Motorola Connect
Sign In
Sign Out
View Recent Calls
View Text Messages
Compose and Send a Text Message
Reply to a Text Message
Motorola Connect Settings

 

Enable or Disable Motorola Connect

  1. From the handheld device, navigate Apps > Settings > Active Notifications.
  2. From the 'Computer' section, select Motorola Connect to enable or disable.
    Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    Note If presented with the 'Stay connected on your computer!' screen, ensure that the desired Google account is selected from the drop down menu (located at the bottom), select Yes, I'm in (located in the lower-right) then select OK (located in the lower-right) to complete initial sign in.
    Note If this option is disabled then re-enabled, you must sign in to Motorola Connect on the computer.

Sign In

Note Ensure that you are signed in to the Chrome browser with the same Google account you wish to use for Motorola Connect.

  1. From the computer, launch the Chrome browser.
    Note For Windows 8, right-click the Start screen > All Apps > Google Chrome.
    Note For Windows 7, Vista and XP, click Start > All Programs > Google Chrome > Google Chrome.
    Note For Macintosh, click Finder > Applications > Google Chrome.
  2. From the Chrome browser, click Motorola Connect Motorola Connect icon (located in the upper-right).
  3. From the 'Do you agree to use Motorola Connect?' screen, review the information then click I agree to continue.
    Note Sign in occurs automatically. Allow several seconds for the process to complete.
  4. From the 'Success! You are signed in with' screen, click Let's go (located in the lower-left).

Sign Out

  1. From the computer, launch the Chrome browser.
    Note For Windows 8, right-click the Start screen > All Apps > Google Chrome.
    Note For Windows 7, Vista and XP, click Start > All Programs > Google Chrome > Google Chrome.
    Note For Macintosh, click Finder > Applications > Google Chrome.
  2. From the Chrome browser, click Motorola Connect Motorola Connect icon (located in the upper-right).
  3. Click Menu Menu (located in the upper-right).
  4. Click Sign out.

View Recent Calls

  1. From the computer, launch the Chrome browser.
    Note For Windows 8, right-click the Start screen > All Apps > Google Chrome.
    Note For Windows 7, Vista and XP, click Start > All Programs > Google Chrome > Google Chrome.
    Note For Macintosh, click Finder > Applications > Google Chrome.
  2. From the Chrome browser, click Motorola Connect Motorola Connect icon (located in the upper-right).
    Note If necessary, sign in (skip to step 3).
  3. Click the RECENT CALLS tab (located at the top).
  4. From the left-pane, click a recent call to view.

View Text Messages

  1. From the computer, launch the Chrome browser.
    Note For Windows 8, right-click the Start screen > All Apps > Google Chrome.
    Note For Windows 7, Vista and XP, click Start > All Programs > Google Chrome > Google Chrome.
    Note For Macintosh, click Finder > Applications > Google Chrome.
  2. From the Chrome browser, click Motorola Connect Motorola Connect icon (located in the upper-right).
    Note If necessary, sign in (skip to step 3).
  3. Click the MESSAGING tab (located at the top).
  4. From the left-pane, click a message to view.

Compose and Send a Text Message

  1. From the computer, launch the Chrome browser.
    Note For Windows 8, right-click the Start screen > All Apps > Google Chrome.
    Note For Windows 7, Vista and XP, click Start > All Programs > Google Chrome > Google Chrome.
    Note For Macintosh, click Finder > Applications > Google Chrome.
  2. From the Chrome browser, click Motorola Connect Motorola Connect icon (located in the upper-right).
    Note If necessary, sign in (skip to step 3).
  3. Click the MESSAGING tab (located at the top).
  4. Click New Message New message icon (located in the upper-right).
  5. From the 'To' field (located at the top), enter a 10-digit mobile number or a contact name.
    Note As the number or contact is entered, a matching contact may appear and can be selected at any time.
  6. From the 'Type message' field (located at the bottom), enter a message.
  7. Click Send Send icon (located in the lower-right).

Reply to a Text Message

  1. From the computer, launch the Chrome browser.
    Note For Windows 8, right-click the Start screen > All Apps > Google Chrome.
    Note For Windows 7, Vista and XP, click Start > All Programs > Google Chrome > Google Chrome.
    Note For Macintosh, click Finder > Applications > Google Chrome.
  2. From the Chrome browser, click Motorola Connect Motorola Connect icon (located in the upper-right).
    Note If necessary, sign in (skip to step 3).
  3. Click the MESSAGING tab (located at the top).
  4. From the left-pane, click a message.
  5. From the 'Type message' field (located in the lower-right), enter a message.
  6. Click Send Send icon (located in the lower-right).

Motorola Connect Settings

  1. From the computer, launch the Chrome browser.
    Note For Windows 8, right-click the Start screen > All Apps > Google Chrome.
    Note For Windows 7, Vista and XP, click Start > All Programs > Google Chrome > Google Chrome.
    Note For Macintosh, click Finder > Applications > Google Chrome.
  2. From the Chrome browser, click Motorola Connect Motorola Connect icon (located in the upper-right).
    Note If necessary, sign in (skip to step 3).
  3. Click Menu Menu (located in the upper-right).
  4. Click Settings.
  5. Click any of the following settings to enable or disable:
    Note A setting is enabled when a check mark is present.
    • Sounds
      • Play notification sounds
    • Notification pop-ups
      • Display pop-up notifications
        • Incoming calls and missed calls
        • Messages
          • Hide text message content
        • Voicemail

Install Chrome Browser and/or the Motorola Connect Extension on Your Computer

  1. From the handheld device, navigate Apps > Settings > Active Notifications > Motorola Connect.
  2. From the 'Stay connected on your computer!' screen, ensure that the desired Google account is selected from the drop down menu (located at the bottom) then select Yes, I'm in (located in the lower-right).
    Note If a Google account is not available from the drop down menu, sign in by navigating Apps > Settings > Add account (located in the 'ACCOUNTS' section) > Google.
  3. From the 'Great! Here's the last step' screen, select OK (located in the lower-right).
    Note An email containing instructions regarding how to download and install the Chrome browser and the Motorola Connect Chrome extension is sent to the selected Google account.
  4. From the computer, log in to Gmail then follow the instructions contained within the email titled 'Motorola Connect: Here's your last step'.
    Note The email contains links for downloading the browser and extension.
