Soft Reset - HTC One®

A soft reset can resolve issues like continuous resetting/rebooting, device crashing, freezing, won't ring or vibrate, can't make or receive calls, device locks up, and keypad doesn't respond.

Note Notes:

  • A soft reset (turning the device off then back on) is similar to restarting a desktop computer and is one of the first steps in troubleshooting a device. In most cases, a soft reset won't affect data on the device, unless the battery is very low.
  • If the device doesn't power on, press and hold the Power, Volume Up and Volume Down buttons for a full 1-2 minutes.

Preferred Method

  1. Press and hold the Power button (located on the top-right edge of device).
  2. Tap Power off.
  3. To restart, press and hold the Power button.

Alternate Method

  1. If the device doesn't respond to input, press and hold the Volume Up button then press and hold the Power button.
  2. Continue to hold the Volume Up and Power buttons, the device displays 'RESTARTING IN 3 SECONDS.'
  3. The device restarts momentarily.
