Tethered Modem Connection - BlackBerry® Z30

Note Internet tethering allows you to share your BlackBerry smartphone's connection to the mobile network with one other device (e.g. laptop, tablet, etc.) so that you can access the Internet on your other device anywhere that your BlackBerry smartphone can connect to the mobile network.

Caution Additional charges may apply for using Internet tethering. Additionally, some services (e.g. email, BlackBerry Messenger, etc.) are not be available on the BlackBerry smartphone during an active Internet tethering session.

  1. From the home screen, select Settings.
    Note If not available, swipe down from the top of the display (where the time is located).
  2. Select Network and Connections.
  3. Select Internet Tethering.
  4. If presented with the 'How Internet Tethering Works' screen, review the disclaimer then select Next (in upper right of the screen).
    Note If not presented, skip to step 8.
  5. From the 'Charges May Apply' screen, review the disclaimer then select Next.
  6. From the File Sharing Resumes screen, review the disclaimer then select Skip to setup (at bottom of the screen).
  7. From the Connect using field, select Next.
  8. Select the Internet Tethering On/Off switch to enable On switch icon or disable Off switch icon.
    Note If presented 'To use this feature, contact your wireless service provider to subscribe to a Tethering data plan', select OK then refer to the My Verizon website or contact Verizon Wireless to add the appropriate add-on.
  9. Select the 'Connect using' drop down menu.
  10. Select one of the following:
    • Bluetooth
    • USB
  11. Connect your BlackBerry smartphone to the other device (e.g. laptop, tablet, etc.) using a compatible USB cable or Bluetooth connection.
    Note If applicable, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both devices. Additionally, a paired connection may need to be established.
