Motions and Gestures - Samsung Galaxy S® 5

Note Notes:

  • Motion and gesture settings allow for various motion-activated services.
  • Air gestures utilize the air gesture sensor, positioned at the top right of the device above the screen.
  • The sensor can recognize gestures from a distance of under 3 inches at normal speed.

 

  1. From a home screen, tap Apps Apps icon (located in the lower right).
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Motions and gestures.
  4. Tap any of the following then tap the On/Off switch (located in the upper right) to enable Switch On icon or disable Switch Off icon.
    • Air browse
      Note Allows air scrolling through any of the following (enabled when a check mark is present):
      • The body of an email
      • Gallery
      • Music
      • Music on lock screen
    • Direct call
      Note Call the contact currently displayed on screen when device is brought to the ear
    • Smart alert
      Note Device vibrates when picked up to notify about missed calls and messages
    • Mute/pause
      Note Allows muting of audio / pausing of video using any of the following (enabled when a check mark is present):
      • Covering screen with hand
      • Turning device over
      • Smart pause
        Note Utilizes the front camera to pause video when user looks away from screen
    • Palm swipe to capture
      Note Capture screen by swiping across it with the edge of hand
