Brigadier™ by Kyocera Software Update

Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a software update for your device. This software update has been tested to optimize device performance, resolve known issues and apply the latest security patches.

Before you download:

  • Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network, or make sure it has a strong Verizon Wireless network connection.
  • Ensure your battery is fully charged before starting the software update.

Software Version: 2.998VZ

This software update resolves several device issues.

  • Improved download stability for over the air software updates
  • Corrects Exchange sync issues between the device and PCs, minimizing battery impact in weak signal areas
  • Fixes POP3 sync issues for large emails
  • Latest Android security patches and bug fixes

  1. Over the Air (OTA) Server-Initiated

When a new software version is available for your device, it will be downloaded automatically in the background, and the following screen will be displayed. Tapping Install now starts the installation, or tap Install later to set a different installation time. Please refer to Install Later.

The device will power off and restart when the installation is done.

Tap OK to finish.

  1. OTA User-Initiated

You can update your phone's software manually. From the Home screen, tap > Settings > System updates > Check for new software update.

If a new version of the device software is available, your device will start to download the update. You can use your device normally while downloading the update.

When the download is finished, you'll see a Software Update Ready to Install screen, shown in Section 2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update. (Refer to Section 2.)

Set the update time and tap OK.

At the time you specified, you'll see a screen asking if you want to install the update. Please refer to Section 2 to proceed.

Support of Various Errors

  • Roaming

The software update cannot be processed when roaming. Tap OK and go to the home area. To resume the update process, please refer to Section 3.

  • Outside the Range

You must be connected to Wi-Fi or the Verizon Wireless network to complete the update. Tap OK and refer to Section 3 to resume the update later.

  • Connection Failure

The update can't be processed when your device is not connected to the server. Tap OK and change to the network connected to the server. To resume the update process, please refer to Section 3.

  • DM (Device Management) Session Error

Your device is already in software update process (DM session). Tap OK and try again later, please refer to Section 3.

  • Download Unsuccessful

Tap OK and check your network connections. To resume the update process, please refer to Section 3.

  • Low Battery

The update can't be processed when the battery is less than 10% charged. Tap OK and plug into a wall outlet. The update will resume automatically.

This Software Update will update your Brigadier by Kyocera to Android 5.1 (Lollipop). Android 5.1 Lollipop is one of the most significant updates to the Android OS in recent history. It improves your experience in many areas, including visual style and how you interact with your device.
