Mobile Web FAQs

General Information
  1. What is Mobile Web?

Mobile Web is an Internet browser available on Verizon Wireless basic phones. From the Mobile Web home page, you can access up-to-date web content that's been optimized for viewing on your basic phone. You can also use Mobile Web to search online for your favorite websites.

Note: Not all websites have been optimized for Mobile Web and may appear differently on your basic phone.

Refer to our content providers list to see what content is available from the Mobile Web home page.

  2. How do I get Mobile Web?

Mobile Web is already installed on Verizon Wireless basic phones at the time of purchase. It's included with Nationwide plans and The MORE Everything PlanSM.

  3. How am I billed for Mobile Web?

Access to Mobile Web is included for no additional monthly access charge for basic phones with a Nationwide plan or The MORE Everything® Plan.

If you're on a different plan, you can sign up for Mobile Web at one of the following rates:

    • Monthly: $5/month
    • Daily: $1.99/day

Data charges are billed according to your plan's data allowance or other applicable data feature. If your plan doesn't include data, you'll be charged the standard rate of $1.99/MB of data used.

  4. What type of content is available on Mobile Web?

Refer to our list of Mobile Web content providers. These companies provide regular updated content designed specifically to be viewed with Mobile Web on your basic phone.

Some of the content categories available include:

    • Sports
    • Weather
    • Business
    • Top current events

In addition, content is available from many top providers, including FOX Sports, Charles Schwab and ABC News.

You can also search for your favorite websites to view on Mobile Web.

  5. Can I read full news articles on Mobile Web?

    Yes, you can.

  6. If I change my phone number, can I access Mobile Web?

    Yes, as long as:

    • Your device is compatible with Mobile Web
    • You're on The MORE Everything Plan or a Nationwide plan

  7. If I'm roaming throughout the country, can I still use Mobile Web and receive alerts?

Yes, as long as you're in the Verizon Wireless coverage area, you'll be able to use Mobile Web and receive alerts while roaming.

  8. Am I always connected to the Internet with Mobile Web?

You're connected once you make a selection from the Mobile Web home page. After 30 seconds of inactivity, your phone "times out" (meaning you'll no longer receive information and will no longer be billed for airtime or data usage).

At that time, you can read the saved (cached) content without being billed for airtime minutes or data usage. You can reconnect to the Internet by making another selection.

Note: You can tell when the browser is re-connecting because you'll see "sending/receiving" displayed on your device.

  9. Can I receive a call while in a Mobile Web browser session?

Yes, if you answer the call, your Mobile Web browsing session will be suspended. Once you end the call, you'll have the option to resume your browsing session from the point at which it was interrupted.

  10. Does Mobile Web support secure SSL (https://) sites?

Yes, SSL mobile sites and HTML secure sites are accessible from Mobile Web, with the exception of secure HTML banking sites.

Using Mobile Web
  1. Do I need to sign in to use Mobile Web?

No, you can use Mobile Web without signing in.

  2. How do I check my Mobile Web usage?

In Mobile Web, go to Customer Support and select My Bill. Follow the prompts to view your usage. (Not available in all markets.)

  3. How do I access news articles on Mobile Web?

News articles are available from the Mobile Web home page and in the News category. Content providers such as CNN and ABC News also provide headlines and articles.

  4. How can I search for additional Internet sites with Mobile Web?

You can perform a Search by clicking Search on the portal (Option 0) or by pressing your phone browser right soft key.

If you know the URL of a website, you can also enter it into the Go to URL feature.

  5. Where do I go to search for websites on Mobile Web?

To search for a website on Mobile Web:

    1. On the Mobile Web home page, select Option 0 or press the button on your phone with a Search icon (available on some phones).

    2. Enter a keyword in the search box and click Search.

You'll be presented with relevant search results. Mobile sites will be presented at the top and the desktop version of sites (or HTML version) will be presented under Top Web Results.

  6. Why do I get a different version of a web page in Search than I get when I access the same website on the Verizon Today Mobile Web portal?

The websites available from the Verizon Today Mobile Web portal have been optimized specifically by our Content Partners to look best on Mobile Web. The version you access from Search may not have been optimized for Mobile Web or it's the desktop (full HTML) version.

While the content of these pages is often similar, their presentation may differ slightly. You can decide which version of a website you prefer to view and save it as a Favorite in order to be presented with that version later.

  7. With Mobile Web, how do I access the desktop (full HTML) version of a website instead of the mobile version?

To access the desktop version of a website with Mobile Web:

    1. Launch Mobile Web.

    2. From the Mobile Web home page select Option 0 or press the button on your phone with a Search icon (available on some phones).

    3. In the Search box, enter the name of the website you want to visit.

    4. Search results will display organized into categories (e.g., Mobile sites (21), News (10), Top Web Results (25), Web Images (999), etc.).

    5. Scroll down and select Top Web Results.

    6. The links in the Top Web Results section will take you to the desktop version of the website.

Note: Some websites are designed to automatically load the mobile version (not the desktop version) if you're using a mobile device. If so, then you'll only be able to view their site in the mobile version from your phone with Mobile Web.

You've successfully accessed the desktop version of a website.

  1. Can I save favorites or bookmarks with Mobile Web?

Yes, you can bookmark your favorite websites on your phone with Mobile Web. You can also create folders to organize your bookmarks.

  2. What is the Mobile Web headline window?

The headline window provides easy access to top news headlines.

  3. How often will the headlines change in the Mobile Web headline window?
