The My Verizon App FAQs

These FAQs are for the My Verizon app (previously named My Verizon Mobile).

General Information
  1. The My Verizon app lets you manage your Verizon Wireless account from your compatible mobile device. It makes managing your account easier and more convenient, especially when you're on-the-go.

    If your device isn't compatible with the new My Verizon app, you can continue managing your account using the My Verizon app on your device. You can also sign in to My Verizon from the web browser on your mobile device or computer.

    You can access all the account features you have available in My Verizon right from your phone or tablet, including:

    • Check your balance, upgrade eligibility and usage information
    • Change your features, plan and profile information
    • Make and view payments, edit payment accounts and manage Auto Pay
    • Add a new line to your account
    • Manage services like Call Forwarding, alerts and Verizon FamilyBase®
    • Locate a store
    • Purchase accessories

  2. If you can't get the new My Verizon app, you may not be eligible for it yet. To use the new My Verizon app:

    • All lines on your account must be on the new Verizon Plan, The Verizon Plan or The MORE Everything Plan
    • You must have a compatible iPhone® or Android® smartphone using:
      • iOS 8.0 or newer
      • Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or newer

  4. The My Verizon app is compatible with most devices on the following operating systems:

    • Android
    • Apple® iOS
    • BlackBerry®
    • Windows® Phone

    On many devices it's already installed at the time of purchase. Check the App list on your device to see if it's listed. If it isn't, open the app store on your device and search for the My Verizon app. If the app appears, it's compatible with your device.

    If an app isn't available for your device, you can access My Verizon anytime from your smartphone, tablet or computer browser.

  5. We're committed to safeguarding your privacy. We use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology with encryption for the transmission of sensitive data. When the security lock is displayed, you can be confident that your individual information is protected.



  6. You access My Verizon in the My Verizon app or from your browser app:

    • The My Verizon app (available on most smartphones and tablets): Tap the My Verizon app in the App list on your device to open it.

      Note: If the app isn't in your App list, search for the My Verizon app in your device's app store and download it. If it's not available in your app store, use the Web Browser instructions below.

    • Web browser (smartphone, tablet or computer): Open the web browser and sign in to My Verizon.

The My Verizon App for Prepaid
  1. Yes, the My Verizon app is available for prepaid devices. The steps to get and use the app are the same, but the options you'll see for managing your prepaid account will be slightly different than those available for a standard monthly account.



  2. The My Verizon app makes managing your account easier and more convenient, especially when you're on-the-go. You can use the app to:

    • Check your balance details
    • Make payments
    • Set up Auto Pay
    • View your plan details or change your plan
    • Change your features
    • Monitor your usage
    • Reset or change your Account Security Code, profile settings and voicemail password

  3. From your prepaid device, you can use the My Verizon app to:

    • Make a one-time debit or credit card payment

      Note: You can also save debit/credit card information for future use or edit your current card information.

    • Sign up for Auto Pay

    • Use a refill card

    You can also use the Payment Locator option within the My Verizon app to find the nearest replenishment locations. Either enter your ZIP code or search by city and state.



Upgrade a Device
  1. You can upgrade your device with the My Verizon app or by going to the Upgrade Device page from your browser.

    To upgrade your device with the My Verizon app:

    1. Tap the Devices tab at the top.
    2. Select which line you want to upgrade. Lines that are eligible for an upgrade will be labeled UPGRADE AVAILABLE.
    3. Select the device you want to order.
    4. Here you can choose to trade-in your current device or skip this step. When you trade in your device, you'll receive a Verizon Wireless gift card for the amount of your device's trade-in value. To skip this step tap No Thanks, Skip Trade In.

      To trade in your device:
      1. Answer the questions about your device's condition. It's important you provide an accurate description of your device's condition. If the device isn't in the condition you described this could affect your trade-in credit amount. To learn more, visit our Device Trade-In Program FAQs.
      2. Tap Continue.
      3. The trade-in value will display. If you agree to trade in your device for the listed amount, tap Accept this Offer. If you decide you don't want to trade in your device, tap Skip Trade-In.
         
    5. Select which device protection option you want.
    6. Tap Continue.
    7. Select a shipping method and tap Review Order.
    8. Review your order details and accept the Verizon Wireless Customer Agreement.
    9. Tap Place Order Now.

    You have successfully upgraded your device with the My Verizon app.



View and Manage Usage
  1. You can view your usage in the My Verizon app or by going to the My Usage page on your web browser.

    To view your usage for minutes, messages or data in the My Verizon app:

    Note: If you're an Account Owner or Account Manager, you can view usage for all lines on the account. If you're an Account Member, you can view usage for your line only. Learn more about My Verizon account access roles.

    1. Open the My Verizon app on your device.

    2. Open the menu.

    3. Select My Account & Billing > View Usage.

    4. Your total account usage for the current bill cycle will display at the top. Tap a usage type (Data, Minutes or Messages) to view that type of usage.

    5. The usage for any individual lines on your account will appear below. Tap an individual line to view more usage detail for that line.

  2. The Balance screen will show the balance for the entire account. The usage screens (e.g., minutes, messages, data usage) will show usage for the device you're using while accessing the app.



  3. Your usage information is updated in the billing system periodically. The date and time listed are the last time the billing system was updated with the information. Additionally, the billing system may be in a different time zone.



  4. You can set usage alerts from your device with the My Verizon app or by going to the Usage Alerts page on your web browser.

    To set usage alerts in the My Verizon app:

    1. Open the My Verizon app on your device.

    2. Open the Menu.

    3. Select My Account & Billing > Manage Usage Alerts.

    4. Select the type of usage alert you want to manage: data, minutes or messages.

    5. To turn on Usage Alerts, tap the Send Alerts switch. A red switch indicates Usage Alerts is on.

    6. Select which usage percentage(s) you want to be notified about. The switch will be red if that option is active.

      Note: In this example, we're selecting Data to set up data usage alerts. However, you can also select Minutes or Messages as well to set up minute or messaging usage alerts. The steps are essentially the same.

    7. Add any phone numbers that you'd like to receive text alerts and email address that you'd like to receive email alerts.

    8. Tap Save Changes.

    You've successfully set up usage alerts.



  5. You can manage your usage alerts on your device in the My Verizon app or by going to the Usage Alerts page on your browser. Up to 5 different text recipients and 3 different email recipients, including the Account Owner, can receive an alert if usage is reached.

    To set text and email alert recipients in the My Verizon app:

    1. Open the My Verizon app on your device.

    2. Open the Menu.

    3. Select My Account & Billing > Manage Usage Alerts.

    4. Add any phone numbers that you'd like to receive text alerts and email address that you'd like to receive email alerts.

    You've successfully updated your usage alert recipients.



  6. You can change your features on your device with the My Verizon app or by going to the Products & Apps page on your web browser.

    To change features on a line in the My Verizon app:

    Note: This action is only available for the Account Owner or Account Manager. Learn more about My Verizon Account Access Roles.

    1. On the Home screen, tap Manage Features in the Your Plan Summary section.

      Note: Enter your Secure Login Password if prompted.

    2. To manage features for a different line on your account tap Select Another Device and choose a line.

    4. You'll see a list of features for that line.

    5. Tap Manage Feature to change options for a feature. To learn more about a feature tap the ? button.

    6. Select a new option and tap Select Feature.

    7. Review your changes and tap Submit.

      Note: In this example, Verizon Cloud was upgraded to more storage.

    You've successfully changed your features.



  7. To request a copy of your last bill:

    1. Open the My Verizon app on your device.

    2. Open the menu and tap My Account & Billing.

      Note: Enter your Secure Login Password if prompted.

    4. Tap Print Your Last Bill to view a PDF version of your bill that you can print. Or tap Request a copy of your last bill to have a copy of your last bill mailed to you.

    You've successfully requested your last bill. If you asked for it to be sent to you, you'll receive a bill within 10 business days.



  8. To view your upgrade eligibility status with the My Verizon app:

    1. Open the My Verizon app on your device.

    2. From the Home screen, tap Devices.

    3. A list of your devices will display. The ones eligible for an upgrade will say Upgrade Available. Tap a line to view the upgrade eligibility date for that line.

Plan
  1. To switch to the new Verizon Plan:

    1. Open the app. In the Your Plan Summary section tap Manage Plan.
    2. Select Switch to the new Verizon Plan.
    3. Choose the amount of data you want.
    4. Tap Switch to this plan.

    You’ve successfully switched to the new Verizon Plan.



  2. If you're on The MORE Everything Plan or a Nationwide plan, you'll be able to change your allowance and keep your plan. For all other plans, including the Verizon Plan, if you want to change your allowance you'll need to switch to the new Verizon Plan.

    1. Open the app. In the Your Plan Summary section tap Manage Plan.
    2. Tap Select under the plan you want to change.
    3. Choose the amount of data you want.
    4. Tap Switch to this plan.

    You've successfully changed you plan.



Services & Apps
  1. You can change your features on your device with the My Verizon app or by going to the Products & Apps page on your web browser.

    To change features on a line in the My Verizon app:

    Note: This action is only available for the Account Owner or Account Manager. Learn more about My Verizon Account Access Roles.

    1. On the Home screen tap Manage Features in the Your Plan Summary section.

      Note: Enter your Secure Login Password if prompted.

    2. To manage features for a different line on your account tap Select Another Device and choose a line.
    3. Tap Your Current Features.
    4. You'll see a list of features for that line.
    5. Tap Manage Feature to change options for a feature. To learn more about a feature tap the ? button.
    6. Select a new option and tap Select Feature.
    7. Review your changes and tap Submit.
      Note: In this example, Verizon Cloud was upgraded to more storage.

    You've successfully changed your features.



Payments and Auto Pay
  1. You can enroll in Auto Pay in the My Verizon app or by going to the Manage Auto Pay page on your web browser.

    To enroll in Auto Pay with the My Verizon app:

    Note: This action is available for the Account Owner and Account Manager. Learn more about My Verizon account access roles.

    1. Open the My Verizon app on your device.

    2. Tap Set Up and Manage Auto Pay.

    3. You can select a saved payment method from the Select Saved Payment Source dropdown. To add a new payment method for auto pay tap Manage Accounts to set up a new payment method.

Profile and Settings
  1. You can change your voicemail in the My Verizon app or by going to the Reset Voicemail Password page on your web browser.

    To change your voicemail password in the My Verizon app:

    1. Open the My Verizon app on your device.

    2. Open the Menu.

    3. Select My Profile & Settings > Manage Voice Mail Password.

    4. Enter and confirm your new password or tap Choose A Password For Me to have one automatically created for you.

    To change your My Verizon password in the My Verizon app:

    1. Open the My Verizon app on your device.

    2. From the Home screen, tap Profile.

      Note: Your new password:
      • Must be 8-20 characters long
      • Must have at least 1 number and 1 letter
      • Must not match your User ID

      • Is case sensitive

    Note: Changing your password through the My Verizon app changes it for the online version of My Verizon as well.



  4. You can edit your email address in the My Verizon app or by going to the Personal Information & Security page with your web browser.

    To edit your email address in the My Verizon app:

    1. Open the My Verizon app on your device.

    2. From the Home screen, tap Profile.

    To change your Secret Question in the My Verizon app:

    1. Open the My Verizon app on your device.

    2. From the Home screen, tap Profile.

    You've successfully changed your Secret Question for My Verizon and the My Verizon app.



  7. Use the My Verizon app to verify that your device and account settings are set up for international use. If you need to upgrade your device for international travel or want to add or change an international plan, you can also do that in the My Verizon app as well.

    Get more plan flexibility and international options with the new Verizon Plan Unlimited. The new Verizon Plan Unlimited gives you unlimited calling to and from Mexico and Canada. Plus use your domestic talk, text and data* allowance while in Mexico and Canada at no additional charge. Learn more about the new Verizon Plan Unlimited.

    *4G data speeds apply for the first 512 MB/day with 2G speeds thereafter. If more than 50% of your talk, text or data usage in a 60-day period is in Mexico or Canada, use of those services in those countries may be removed or limited.

    To perform an international ready check:

    1. Open the menu and tap My Devices.
    2. Tap International Ready Check. The device summary section will tell you if you currently have an international plan or not.
    3. Tap Check if your phone will work abroad. Enter the name of the country or cruise ship and tap Add to add the destination. Repeat this step to add up to four more country or cruise ship names.
    4. Tap Check Compatibility.
    5. The results will indicate if your device is compatible with voice, messaging and data for each country or cruise ship on your list. If your device isn't compatible, tap Upgrade to find a device you can use on your trip.
    6. Now you'll need to verify if your account settings are ready for international travel. Tap Check Plan Compatibility.
    7. The results will indicate if you need to add an international plan to your account or if your account is already compatible for international travel.

    If you need to add an international plan:

    1. Tap Add International Plan.
    2. Tap the international plan you want to add. If you have multiple lines on your account tap Select Lines and choose which lines to add the plan.
    3. Tap Continue to complete the rest of the steps to adding your international plan.
    4. Now you're set up with an international plan.

    You've successfully completed the International Ready check.



Privacy and Security
  1. Some functions within the My Verizon app are considered secured functions, so you must use a password to gain access. You'll only enter your password once for each session.

    1. When prompted, enter your password.
      • If you're registered for My Verizon, use that Password.

      • If you're not registered for My Verizon, enter the Account PIN (or the last four digits of the Social Security Number on the account if no Account PIN is established).
    2. Tap Continue.

    You've successfully entered your Secure Login Password.



  2. You can change your privacy settings from your devices to control how your mobile usage data is used by Verizon for marketing and reporting.

    Only registered users can select the option to manage privacy settings and selections. Account Owners and Account Managers can modify any privacy setting. Account Members can modify location based settings only.

    Note: Only certain operating systems display location settings.



  3. Some functions in the My Verizon app are considered secured functions, so you must use your Secure Login Password to gain access. You'll only enter your password once for each session.



  4. The purpose of this process is to protect you from fraud.

    A link for registration is sent to you by email and is only active for 3 days. If the email link isn't used during that time, you must start the registration process over. If no email address is on file, a letter is sent by mail with a temporary password for you to use for registration.
