  1. Can I assign a name to each of the devices in My Verizon?

    Yes, if you're the Account Owner or an Account Manager, you can assign a name to each device in your account. Giving a nickname to the devices in your account can help make them more recognizable at a glance. Learn more about My Verizon account roles.

  2. Why would I want to assign a name to the devices in My Verizon?

    Personalizing each device with a name can make it quicker and easier to identify the user and type of each device on your account.

    Rather than having to recognize a device by its phone number, you can give them all meaningful nicknames (e.g., Susan's phone, John's tablet). When you sign in to My Verizon, you'll be able to quickly tell them apart and locate the device you’re looking for.

  3. How do I assign or change the name of the devices in My Verizon?

    To assign or change the names of your devices:

    Note: You must be the Account Owner or an Account Manager to assign a device name. Learn more about My Verizon account roles.

    1. Go to the Account Overview page in My Verizon.
    2. Click Edit Device Name next to the device you want to name.
    3. Enter names for one or more of your devices.
    4. Click Save Changes.


    You've successfully changed the name of your devices.

  4. What are the character requirements for naming devices in My Verizon?

    Each device has two name fields, for example, one field for first name and a second field for last name. If you are entering a name for one of your devices, both fields must have at least 1 character entered.  You can also use numbers, letters and most special characters.

  5. Can other users on my account see the names I assign to each device in My Verizon?

    Only the Account Owner or Account Managers can see the names assigned to devices in My Verizon. Account Members will only see the name and number assigned to their line. Learn more about My Verizon account roles.

    Note: Sales Representatives and Customer Service Representatives can also see your device names when they help you with account questions.

  6. Will assigning a name to a device in My Verizon change my billing information?

    No, the billing name on the account will remain the same. However, after you assign names to your devices, those device names will appear on your next bill.

  7. Why are there already names assigned to my devices in My Verizon?

    A Sales Representative or Customer Service Representative may have assigned names to your devices at a previous time (e.g., at the time of purchase).

  8. Where can I see the device name I assigned in My Verizon?

    The device name will appear on the following pages in My Verizon:


    The device name will also appear on your bill. When you make a change to a device name, the new name will appear on your next bill. Previous bills will display the device name that was assigned at the time of billing.
