Push to Talk Only FAQs

General Information

  1. What is the Push to Talk Only calling plan?

The Push to Talk Only calling plan allows customers to use Push to Talk (and other data services) but prevents them from making or receiving voice calls or any circuit-switched IS-95A data connections. The monthly access fee of the Push to Talk Only calling plan is lower than the monthly access fee associated with standard calling plans that allow customers to make and receive voice calls.

  2. Do I need to have a specific phone to use the Push to Talk Only calling plan?

Yes. View our current lineup of Push to Talk devices.

  3. What happens if I try to make a call but have a Push to Talk Only calling plan?

You can't make outgoing voice calls on Push To Talk Only plans. All outbound voice calls from devices with a Push to Talk Only plan (with the exception of *228 and 911) will be routed to Verizon Wireless Customer Service.

  4. What happens if someone tries to place a voice call to a customer with the Push to Talk Only calling plan?

Any inbound callers will hear either:

    • A Fast Busy Tone, or
    • "Welcome to Verizon Wireless, you have reached a number on the Verizon Wireless network that has been disconnected or is no longer in service. Please check the number and dial again. 0006 0005 - Message 3."
