Add a Virtual Private Network - Samsung Galaxy S6 edge +

A virtual private network (VPN) encrypts your internet traffic and protects your online identity via a secured remote server and is most commonly used when remotely accessing company systems (e.g., company email, intranet sites, etc.).

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps Apps icon > Settings Settings icon > More.
  2. Tap VPN.
  3. If presented with a lock screen notification, tap OK.
    Note Refer to Change the Device Password (Pattern, PIN or Password) for assistance.
  4. Choose between Basic VPN and Advanced IPsec VPN.
    Note The procedures that follow are for setting up a Basic VPN.
  5. Tap Add VPN.
  6. From the 'Name' field, enter the appropriate name.
    Note Contact the VPN administrator for assistance with server information and credentials.
  7. From the 'Type' field, tap the Dropdown menu Drop down menu icon (right) then select the VPN type:
    • PPTP
    • L2TP/IPSec PSK
    • L2TP/IPsec RSA
    • IPSec Xauth PSK
    • IPSec Xauth RSA
    • IPSec Hybrid RSA
    • IPSec IKEv2 PSK
    • IPSec IKEv2 RSA
  8. Enter the required information into the applicable fields then tap Save (lower right).
    Note If applicable, tap Show advanced options to configure the following:
    Note The available options vary depending upon the selected VPN type.
    • Server address
    • DNS search domains
    • DNS servers
    • Forwarding routes
