Samsung Galaxy Tab E (8.0) - Manage Mobile / Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings

 

Note Here's how to check what software version your device is running.

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    Note These instructions only apply to the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.
    Note For software version 7.1.1 or earlier, navigate: Settings > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.
  3. Tap Mobile Hotspot.
  4. Tap the Menu icon Menu icon (upper-right) then select one of the following:

 

 

Allowed Devices

Tap Allowed devices only to turn on Switch on icon or off Switch off icon.
Note When on, only devices add to the list can connect.

  • To add a device:
    1. Tap ADD (upper-right).
    2. Enter the Device name and MAC address then tap ADD.
  • To remove a device:
    1. Tap DELETE (upper-right).
    2. Select the device(s).
      Note Device is marked for deletion when a checkmark is present.
      Note To select all devices, tap All (upper-left).
    3. Tap DELETE.

Configure Mobile Hotspot

  1. Configure the any of the following:
    • Network name
    • Hide my device
      Note Enabled when a checkmark is present.
    • Security
      • Open
      • WPA2 PSK
    • Password
  2. Tap SAVE (lower-right).

Timeout Settings

Select an option (e.g., Never timeout, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 60 minutes, etc.).
