Note If you're switching from an iPhone® to a non-iPhone device, you must turn off iMessage before activating your new non-iphone device.

Activate a new Android Smartphone

  1. Save contacts and content on your old phone using the Transfer Content info.
  2. Power both phones down.
    Caution To properly activate the new device on the network, ensure both phones are powered down.
  3. If necessary, insert the SIM card into the new phone.
  4. If necessary;
    • insert the battery
    • replace the battery cover
    • charge the phone
    • turn it on
  5. Follow the on-screen Setup Wizard instructions to activate and set up your new phone.

  6. Restore your content to the new phone using the Transfer Content info.

Turn off iMessage® (if switching from iPhone only)

  1. On your iPhone go to Settings.
  2. Tap Messages.
  3. If the indicator next to the iMessage switch is green, tap or slide the switch to turn off.
    Note When the feature is turned off, the switch is all white.
  4. Proceed with activation (step 1 above).

Activate a new iPhone
