Restore Messages - Verizon Messages - Android®

To restore the last 90 days of Verizon messages after switching from one Android device to another, follow these steps.

Note Ensure your apps are up to date as the following steps apply to the most recent version.

Restore during initial setup of Message+

  1. From the Home screen, navigate: Apps (at the bottom) > Message+ Message+ icon.
    Note If the device doesn't have an Apps icon, navigate directly to Message+.
  2. If prompted to "Change messaging app?", tap Yes.
    Note The Message+ app closes if 'No' is selected.
  3. Tap Start Messaging.
  4. If prompted to create a public profile, choose an option:
    • No, I don't want a public profile
    • Yes, I want a public profile
  5. Swipe through or tap the X (upper-right) to close any getting started messages.
  6. When the pop-up message is presented, tap Restore Messages.

Restore after Message+ in use

  1. From the Home screen, navigate: Apps (at the bottom) > Message+ Message+ icon.
    Note If the device doesn't have an Apps icon, navigate directly to Message+.
  2. If prompted to "Change messaging app?", tap Yes.
    Note Message+ menu options may not be available if "No" is selected.
  3. Tap the Menu icon Menu icon (upper-left).
  4. Tap Settings.

  6. Tap Restore Messages.
  7. From the Restore Messages pop-up choose an option:
    • Restore from SD Card (if applicable)
      Note If selected, user must navigate to where the desired backup file is stored.
    • Restore from Online
