Apple® iPad® - Guided Access Settings

Note Guided Access:

  • limits device to a single app.
  • allows users to disable areas of the screen which aren't relevant to the task.
  • allows users to disable the hardware buttons (Home, Volume, Power).

  1. Ensure Guided Access is turned on.
  2. Launch an app then quickly triple press the Home button (located at the bottom).
  3. Using your finger, circle areas of the screen to disable.
  4. Tap Options (located in the lower-left).
  5. Tap the switch(es) to turn the following on Switch On or off Switch Off then tap Done:
    Note The options presented may vary.
    • Sleep/Wake Button
    • Volume Buttons
    • Motion
    • Keyboards
  6. Tap Start (located in the upper-right).
    Note If prompted, to "Set Passcode":
    1. Enter a passcode.
    2. Re-enter passcode.

Note Notes:
  • To end a session, quickly triple press the Home button, enter passcode then tap End (located in the upper-left).
  • To remove previously set restrictions from an active session:
    1. Quickly triple press the Home button.
    2. Enter the passcode.
    3. Tap the X symbol next to any areas of the screen that have been disabled.
    4. Tap Options (located in the lower-left).
    5. Ensure the desired option switches are turned on then tap Done.
    6. Tap End (located in the upper-left).
