Change Device Password - Samsung Galaxy S9 / S9+

Note Notes:

  • If using Microsoft® Exchange / Corporate sync, some screen lock options may be unavailable.
  • A pattern, PIN or password must be set up to turn on factory reset protection.
    Note Changing screen lock to 'None' or 'Swipe' turns off this feature.

 

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
    Note These instructions only apply to Standard mode and the default Home screen layout.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Lock screen and security.
  3. From the Phone Security section, tap Screen lock type.
    Note If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  4. Tap one of the following:

 

 

Pattern

Note An unlock pattern is created to access the device.

  1. Draw an unlock pattern (connecting at least 4 dots) then tap CONTINUE.
  2. Draw the same pattern again then tap CONFIRM.
  3. If presented, tap the Notifications switch (upper-right) to turn on Switch on or off Switch off then tap DONE.
    Note When on, configure any of the following:
    • Hide content
      Note Tap to turn on or off.
    • Notification icons only
      Note Tap to turn on or off.
    • Transparency
      Note Slide the blue bar left or right to adjust the level while viewing the preview at the top.
    • Auto-reverse text color
      Note Tap to turn on or off.
      Note Reverses the color of notification text based upon background color.

PIN

Note A PIN number is created to access the device.

  1. Enter a numeric PIN (4 to 16 digits) then tap CONTINUE.
  2. Re-enter the numeric PIN then tap OK.
  3. If presented, tap the Notifications switch (upper-right) to turn on Switch on or off Switch off then tap DONE.
    Note When on, configure any of the following:
    • Hide content
      Note Tap to turn on or off.
    • Notification icons only
      Note Tap to turn on or off.
    • Transparency
      Note Slide the blue bar left or right to adjust the level while viewing the preview at the top.
    • Auto-reverse text color
      Note Tap to turn on or off.

  2. Re-enter the password then tap OK.
