Device Trade in Program Guide

With our Device Trade-in Program, you can trade in or donate your old device. This is a great way to recycle old, unused devices, eliminating clutter in your home and protecting the environment. Some devices earn an account credit or Verizon Wireless Gift Card.

This guide includes steps on how to trade in a device and managing your trade-in submission. Refer to our Device Trade-in Program FAQs for more information.

Device Trade in Information

    Trade in Your Old Device If You're an Existing Customer

    You need to be signed in to My Verizon to trade in your device.

    1. Go to our Trade In Program page.

    2. If you're already signed in to My Verizon, skip to step 3. Otherwise, tap Sign in, then follow the onscreen prompts to sign in to My Verizon.

    3. Select the device you want to trade in from the dropdown menus.

    4. Answer the questions about the condition of the device, so we can properly appraise it.

      Note: If you have a promotion code from us and your device is eligible for it, enter it in the enter promotion code field.

    5. Enter the verification code to continue.

    6. The appraisal value will display. Tap Continue.

    7. Choose how you want to be paid for your trade-in and tap Continue.

    8. Provide your name, address, phone number and email address. Tap Continue.

    9. Review the appraisal details and accept the Terms & Conditions.

    10. Tap Complete your trade-in.

    11. Your device trade-in request is complete. Follow the instructions to prepare your device for trading in. You'll also receive an email with this information.

      Note: If you don't see an email from us soon, check your spam folders.

    12. When you receive the prepaid shipping envelope, return the device in it within 15 days or less.

    You've successfully traded in your device.

    How to Trade in Your Old Device If You're Not a Verizon Customer Yet

    You can trade in a device with us even if you're not one of our customers and receive a Verizon Wireless Gift Card.

    1. Go to our Device Trade-in Program page.

    2. Select the manufacturer, model, color, size, and carrier for the device you want to trade in.

    3. Answer the questions about the condition of the device, so we can properly appraise it.

    4. Enter the verification code in the box.

    5. The trade-in value will display. Tap Continue.

    6. Choose how you want to be paid for your trade-in and tap Continue.

    7. Provide your name, address, phone number and email address. Tap Continue.

    8. Enter the Device ID for the device in the Device ID field and tap Validate. To find your Device ID dial *#06# from the device you're trading in. The device ID will display.

    9. Tap Continue.

    10. Answer the questions about the condition of the device, so we can properly appraise it.

      Note: If you have a promotion code from us and your device is eligible for it, enter it in the enter promotion code field.

    11. Tap Appraise Device.

    12. The maximum possible value for the device you want to trade in will display in the bottom-left corner. Tap Accept And Continue.

      Note: If you choose not to trade in your device, you can tap Not now or close your browser window.

    13. Select one of the Trade-in Options presented or tap Data Wipe Instructions to learn how to clear your device of your personal information.

      Note: If you're returning an Apple device with iOS 7 or newer, you must turn off Find My iPhone prior to sending it back. It's also a good idea to erase your device too. Our Device Return Instructions page has all the details. It's just a few steps for each.

    14. Read over the Terms and Conditions for the Device Trade-in Program. Check the box next to I have read the Terms & Conditions.

    15. Tap accept terms & conditions.

    16. Enter your shipping address, phone number and email address, so we can send you a prepaid shipping envelope to trade in your device.

      Note: Make sure your email address is correct and valid. We'll use it to communicate all information about trading in your device.

    17. Tap complete your trade-in.

    18. Follow the instructions to prepare your device for trading in. You'll also receive an email with this information.

      Note: If you don't see an email from us soon, check your spam folders.

    19. When you receive the prepaid shipping envelope, return the device in it within 15 days or less.

    You've successfully traded in your device.

    Check the Status of Your Trade-In Submission
    1. Go to VerizonWireless.com/device-status.

    2. Enter the submission ID for your device trade-in request in the Submission ID field.

      Note: You can find the submission ID for your request in the confirmation email.

    3. Tap Check Status.

    You've successfully checked the status of your trade-in request.

    Reorder the Prepaid Shipping Materials for Trading in Your Device

    Follow the steps below to reorder the prepaid shipping materials, like an envelope or box, to send your old device to us for trading in.

    1. Go to the Request more shipping materials page.

    2. Enter the Submission ID for your device trade-in request in the Submission ID field.

      Note: The Submission ID can be found in the email you received after submitting the request.

    3. Tap Check Status.

    4. The address where we'll send the envelope to will be displayed. Tap Continue.

    You'll see a confirmation that we received your request to reorder the shipping materials.
