Samsung Galaxy S® 6 / S® 6 edge - Set Up Screen Lock

Note Notes:

  • If using Microsoft® Exchange / Corporate sync, some screen lock options may be unavailable.
  • These steps can also be utilized to change your current screen lock setting.

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps Apps icon > Settings > Lock screen and security (Personal section).
    Note These instructions apply to Standard mode only.
  2. Tap Screen lock type.
    Note If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  3. Tap one of the following:

Pattern

Note An unlock pattern is created to access the device.

  1. Draw an unlock pattern (connecting at least 4 dots) then tap CONTINUE.
  2. Draw the same pattern again then tap CONFIRM.
  3. If presented, select an option then tap DONE.
    • Show content
    • Hide content
    • Do not show notifications
  4. If prompted to set up fingerprint lock, select the desired option:
    • LATER
    • SET UP

PIN

Note A PIN number is created to access the device.

  1. Enter a numeric PIN (4 to 16 digits) then tap CONTINUE.
  2. Re-enter the numeric PIN then tap OK.
  3. If presented, select an option then tap DONE.
    • Show content
    • Hide content
    • Do not show notifications
  4. If prompted to set up fingerprint lock, select the desired option:
    • LATER
    • SET UP

Password

Note A password is created to access the device.

  1. Enter a password (4 to 16 characters, including at least one letter) then tap CONTINUE.
  2. Re-enter the password then tap OK.
  3. If presented, select an option then tap DONE.
    • Show content
    • Hide content
    • Do not show notifications
  4. If prompted to set up fingerprint lock, select the desired option:
    • LATER
    • SET UP
