Place a Voice Call - Wi-Fi Calling - Android®

Note Notes:

  • Wi-Fi Calling settings don't transfer after switching devices and/or performing a factory data reset. You need to enable W-Fi Calling manually if you want to use it.
  • HD Calls are automatically handed over to Wi-Fi from 4G LTE when a known Wi-Fi access point is available and cellular signal is too weak.
  • Similarly HD Calls automatically hand off from Wi-Fi to 4g LTE when cellular signal is strong.
  • Wi-Fi calls always originate in the US, even when you are outside of the US.
    • Calls to US numbers aren't billed (except for 411 or other premium calls).
    • Calls to international numbers are billed according to your international long distance plan.


  1. From a Home screen, tap the Phone icon.
    Note If unavailable, navigate: Apps > Phone icon.
  2. From the keypad tab, enter the 10-digit number then tap Send Phone icon (located at the bottom).
    Note Upon successful connection, a voice call over Wi-Fi indicator W-Fi Calling icon appears.
    Caution A 7-digit dialing pattern isn't supported.


Upgrade to Video call

While in an active Wi-Fi voice call session, tap Camera On Video Camera icon to upgrade to a video call.
Note Upon successful connection, the video call over Wi-Fi indicator Video call icon appears.
