Turn TalkBack On / Off - Android™

NoteNotes:

  • TalkBack gives spoken feedback for what you tap, select and activate on the device.
  • For additional instructions on setting up TalkBack, refer to Get started on Android with TalkBack, options may vary depending on device.
  • TalkBack may be called Voice Assistant on some devices.

Turn TalkBack On

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access all apps.
    Note If unavailable, tap Apps icon apps icon.
  2. Navigate: Settings > Accessibility.
  3. Tap TalkBack.
    Note If needed, tap Installed Services then tap TalkBack.
  4. Tap the TalkBack switch to turn on Switch on.
  5. Tap 'OK' or 'TURN ON'.
  6. Once TalkBack is on:
    • use two-finger swipe to navigate/scroll.
    • tap once to highlight, then double tap to select.
  7. To access lock screen with TalkBack on, tap and select the lock then enter lock code.

Turn TalkBack Off

Note Notes:

  • When TalkBack is on, use the two-finger swipe gesture to navigate/scroll, tap once to highlight then double tap to select.
  • If Google Voice™ is turned on, you can ask Google Assistant to turn off TalkBack.
  • To access the lock screen with TalkBack on, tap the lock on the screen then tap to enter your lock code.

 

  1. From a Home screen, tap and select the arrow icon Up arrow to access all apps.
    Note If unavailable, select Apps icon apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings to highlight it then double tap to select.
  3. Tap Accessibility to highlight it then double tap to select.
  4. Tap TalkBack to highlight it then double tap to select.
    Note If needed, tap Installed Services to highlight it then double tap to select.
  5. Tap the TalkBack switch to highlight it then double tap to turn off Switch off.
  6. Tap 'OK' or 'TURN OFF' to highlight it then double tap to select.
