Mobile Hotspot Settings - Moto Z Play Droid Edition

To configure Mobile Hotspot settings (e.g., password, allowed devices, etc.), view this info.

  1. From a Home screen, navigate: Apps icon Apps icon > Settings Settings icon > Network & Internet Mobile Hotspot & Tethering.
  2. Tap Mobile Hotspot settings then select an option:


Setup Mobile Hotspot

  1. Tap Setup Mobile Hotspot.
  2. From the Setup Mobile Hotspot screen, configure the following as needed:
    • Network name (SSID)
    • Hide my device (if checked SSID is hidden)
    • Security
      • None
      • WPA2 PSK
    • Password
      Note Password can be changed.
    • Show password
      Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    • Select AP Band
      • 2.4 GHz Band
      • 5 GHz Band
    • Client (DHCP) start address
  3. Tap Save.




Manage Devices

  1. Tap Manage devices.
    Note Restricts which devices are allowed to connect.
  2. To set allowed devices, tap Manage allowed devices.
    1. Tap Allow all devices to enable or disable.
      Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    2. To add a device:
      1. Tap Add allowed device.
      2. Enter the MAC address and device name (optional) then tap OK.
      3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 as necessary. When finished, tap the Back icon Back icon (lower-left)
  3. Tap Device limit.
    Note Limits how many devices can be connected at the same time.
    1. Select an option (e.g., 2 Devices, 3 Devices, 10 Devices, etc.)
    2. Tap the Back icon Back icon (lower-left).




Timeout settings

  1. Tap Timeout.
    Note Sets how long before the hotspot will turn off after no activity.
  2. Select an option:
    • 10 min
    • 15 min
    • 30min
    • 60 min
    • Never turn off
  3. Tap the Back icon Back icon (lower-left).
