Apple® iPhone® - Activate a New iPhone

  1. From the "Activation" screen, confirm your phone number then tap Next.
    Note If confirmation fails, see this Apple support info.
  2. Enter the account PIN or the last 4 digits of the account owner's Social Security Number (SSN) then tap Next.
    Note If activating a new phone, ensure the old phone is powered off and allow several minutes for the deactivation of the old phone to complete.
    Note If activation is successful, proceed with step 3; if not, follow the on-screen instructions or contact us.
  3. If prompted to set up Touch ID or Face ID, follow the on-screen directions or choose to set up later.
  4. Enter a 6-digit passcode, reenter passcode, then tap Next.
  5. Tap a set up option:
  6. Enter your Apple ID and password then tap Next.
    Note If you have an Apple ID already in use on another device, a verification code is sent to that device; you must enter this code to proceed with activation.
    Note If you don't have an Apple ID or have forgotten your sign-in info, refer to one of the following:
  7. To continue, review the Terms and Conditions then tap Agree.
  8. If prompted, tap Agree to confirm.
  9. To confirm you agree with enabling 'Express Settings,' tap Continue.
    Note Enabling this allows you to auto-provision some settings (e.g. Share Diagnostic Options with Apple) and skip some of the following steps.
  10. Tap a location services option:
    • Enable Location Services
    • Disable Location Services
  11. From the Apple Pay screen, tap Set Up Later in Wallet.
  12. From the iCloud Keychain screen, tap one of the following:
    • Approve from Other Device
    • Use iCloud Security Code
    • Don't Restore Passwords
  13. Tap Next from the Apple Pay screen.
  14. Tap Set Up Later in Wallet.
  15. Tap a Siri option:
    • Continue
    • Set Up Later in Settings
  16. Tap a Diagnostics option:
    • Share with Apple
    • Don't Share
  17. Tap an App Analytics option:
    • Share with App Developers
    • Don't Share
  18. Tap Choose a View.
  19. Tap 'Standard' or 'Zoomed' view then tap Next.
  20. Tap Get Started.
    Note If presented with "Can Siri help you?" tap Dismiss.
  21. Confirm the status bar at the top of the screen changes from "No Service" to "Verizon".

iTunes Activation Method

Caution During the activation process specific update and restore error messages may be received within iTunes.

  1. From the computer, close any open apps.
  2. Open the iTunes app on the computer.
  3. Connect the iPhone to the computer via USB cable.
    Note Allow time for iTunes to detect and activate your iPhone; successful activation indicated when iTunes shows 'Set up as New' or 'Restore from Backup' screen.
  4. Follow the prompts on the iTunes screen to complete setup.
