Apple® iPhone® - Turn Do Not Disturb On / Off

Note Notes

  • iPhone can detect when you're driving and activate Do Not Disturb for you.
    Note You can also choose when Do Not Disturb While Driving is activated.
  • The steps below apply to the following models:
    • iPhone X / XS / XS Max / XR
    • iPhone 8 / 8 Plus
    • iPhone 7 / 7 Plus
    • iPhone SE
    • iPhone 6 / 6 Plus / 6s / 6s Plus
    • iPhone 5s

  1. From the Home screen, navigate: Settings Settings icon > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Tap the Do Not Disturb switch to turn on Switch On or off Switch Off.
    Note When Do Not Disturb is turned on:
    • Calls and alerts that arrive while device is locked are silenced.
    • A moon icon appears in the status bar.
  3. Tap the Scheduled switch to turn on or off.
  4. If the Scheduled switch is turned on, tap the From To field.
  5. Set the From and To times then tap Back icon Do Not Disturb (upper-left).
  6. From the Silence section, select one of the following options:
    Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    • Always
    • While iPhone is locked
  7. Tap Allow Calls From.
  8. Select from the following options then tap Back icon Do Not Disturb (upper-left):
    Note Selected when a check mark is present.
    • Everyone
    • No One
    • Favorites
    • All Contacts
  9. Tap the Repeated Calls switch to turn on or off.
  10. Tap Activate in the 'Do Not Disturb While Driving' section then tap one of the following:
    • Automatically
    • When Connected to Car Bluetooth
    • Manually
  11. Tap Back icon Do Not Disturb to go back.
  12. For Auto-Reply, choose to whom it applies then tap Back icon Do Not Disturb:
    • No One
    • Recents
    • Favorites
    • All Contacts
  13. Tap Auto-Reply then enter the text of the message sent into the field. 
    Note Do Not Disturb switch must be turned on to enter a message.
