Samsung Galaxy Tab A (8.0) - Set Up Device

If you need to transfer contacts and media from one device to another, follow these step-by-step instructions before activating the new device.

  1. If powered off, press and hold the Power button until the Samsung Galaxy Tab A screen appears then release.

  2. From the 'Welcome' screen, select the appropriate language then tap Start (center of the screen).
    Note Allow several seconds for activation to complete.
  3. In order to enter setup, you must accept the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. Tap the check boxes to select them then tap AGREE (lower-right).
  4. At the 'Tablet activation' screen, review the presented information and tap NEXT (lower-right).
  5. If presented with the 'Verify your account' screen, sign in with the Google account that was previously synced on the device, tap NEXT then tap No.
  6. If presented with the 'Tablet Activation' screen, tap NEXT or tap ACTIVATE NOW (if available).
    Note If prompted, enter the account PIN then follow the onscreen prompts (see Account PIN FAQs for additional info).
    Note If activating a new device, ensure the old device is powered off and allow several minutes for the deactivation of the old phone to complete.
  7. From the 'Set up Wi-Fi' screen, tap SKIP (lower-right).
  8. From the 'Add your Account (Google)' screen, tap Skip > Skip.
  9. From the 'Name' screen, enter your name then tap NEXT.
  10. From the 'Protect your tablet' screen, select Not now then tap SKIP ANYWAY.
  11. From the 'Google services' screen, select any of the following to turn on switch on or off switch off then tap I AGREE to continue.
    Note Enabled when a check mark is present.
    • Help apps find location
    • Improve location accuracy
    • Send system data
  12. From the 'Email setup' screen, tap SKIP (lower-right).
  13. From the 'Personalize your tablet' screen, tap SKIP.
  14. From the 'Ready to go' screen, tap GOT IT (lower-right).
