Set Up Screen Lock - Samsung Galaxy Tab A (8.0)

Note Notes:

  • If using Microsoft® Exchange / Corporate sync, some screen lock options may be unavailable.
  • These steps can also be utilized to change your current screen lock setting.
  • A pattern, PIN or password must be set up to turn on factory reset protection.
    Note Changing screen lock to 'None' or 'Swipe' turns off this feature.

 

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Lock screen (left pane).
  3. From the right pane, tap Screen lock type.
    Note If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  4. Tap one of the following:

 

Pattern

Note An unlock pattern is created to access the device.

  1. Draw an unlock pattern (connecting at least 4 dots) then tap CONTINUE.
  2. Draw the same pattern again then tap CONFIRM.
  3. If presented, select an option then tap DONE.
    • Notifications
      Note Tap to turn the Notifications switch on Switch on or off Switch off.
    • Hide content
      Note Tap to turn the Hide content switch on or off.
    • Notification icons only
      Note Tap to turn the Notifications only switch on or off.
    • Transparency
      Note Slide the blue bar left or right to adjust transparency.
    • Auto-reverse text color
      Note Tap to turn the Auto-reverse text color switch on or off.
  4. Tap DONE.

PIN

Note A PIN is created to access the device.

  1. Enter a numeric PIN (4 to 16 digits) then tap CONTINUE.
  2. Re-enter the numeric PIN then tap OK.
  3. If presented, select an option then tap DONE.
    • Notifications
      Note Tap to turn the Notifications switch on or off.
    • Hide content
      Note Tap to turn the Hide content switch on or off.
    • Notification icons only
      Note Tap to turn the Notifications only switch on or off.
    • Transparency
      Note Slide the blue bar left or right to adjust transparency.
    • Auto-reverse text color
      Note Tap to turn the Auto-reverse text color switch on or off.
  4. Tap DONE.

Password

Note A password is created to access the device.

  1. Enter a password (4 to 16 characters, including at least one letter) then tap CONTINUE.
  2. Re-enter the password then tap OK.
  3. If presented, select an option then tap DONE.
    • Notifications
      Note Tap to turn the Notifications switch on or off.
    • Hide content
      Note Tap to turn the Hide content switch on or off.
    • Notification icons only
      Note Tap to turn the Notifications only switch on or off.
    • Transparency
      Note Slide the blue bar left or right to adjust transparency.

      Note Tap to turn the Auto-reverse text color switch on or off.
  4. Tap DONE.
