Alcatel Avalon™ - Add a Virtual Private Network

A virtual private network (VPN) encrypts your internet traffic and protects your online identity via a secured remote server and is most commonly used when remotely accessing company systems (e.g., company email, intranet sites, etc.).

Note Contact the VPN admin for assistance with server info and credentials.

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  2. Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Network & Internet Network and Internet.
  3. Tap VPN VPN.
  4. If presented with a lock screen notification, tap OK.
    Note Refer to Change the Device Password (Pattern, PIN or Password) for assistance.
  5. Choose between Basic VPN and Advanced IPsec VPN.
    Note The procedures that follow are for setting up a Basic VPN.
  6. Tap Add VPN.
  7. From the 'Name' field, enter the appropriate name.
  8. From the 'Type' field, tap the Dropdown menu Drop down menu icon (located to the right of the field) then select the VPN type:
    • PPTP
    • L2TP/IPSec PSK
    • L2TP/IPsec RSA
    • IPSec Xauth PSK
    • IPSec Xauth RSA
    • IPSec Hybrid RSA
  9. Enter the required information into the applicable fields then tap Save (lower right).
    Note If applicable, tap Show advanced options to configure the following:
    Note The available options vary depending upon the selected VPN type.
    • Server address
    • DNS search domains
    • DNS servers
    • Forwarding routes
