Account PIN FAQs

Help! I don't know my Account PIN.

General Information

  1. What is an account PIN and why do I need one?

Your account PIN is used to verify your identity when you contact Verizon by phone or Chat. For your security, customers are required to have a 4-digit account PIN, previously called billing password or billing system password. This helps ensure that your account and personal information remain secure.

If you forget your Account PIN you'll need to set up a new one. Learn how to set up a new account PIN.

We'll never proactively call you and ask for your account PIN.

  2. How is an account PIN different from my My Verizon password?

Your 4-digit account PIN verifies your identity when you contact Verizon about your account.

Your My Verizon password is used to sign in to your My Verizon account online or with the app.

  3. What are the requirements for an account PIN?

The account PIN must be a 4-digit number and can't have certain prohibited characteristics.

Prohibited combinations for PINs currently include:

    • It cannot be the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number (forward or backward)
    • It cannot consist of all sequential numbers, like 1234 or 4321
    • It cannot be all the same repeated number, such as 1111
    • It cannot be the last 4 digits of your Mobile Telephone Number

These combinations can present unnecessary security challenges.
