General Information

  1. What are My Verizon email and text alerts?

    My Verizon alerts and notifications are emails or texts we send about your:

    • Account changes
    • Bills and payments
    • Usage for data, minutes and text

    Account Owners can:

    • Choose alert settings for the whole account or for each account member.
    • Choose when the alerts are sent.

  2. How much do My Verizon alerts cost?

    My Verizon alerts are free:

    • Text alerts don't count against your text message limit, if you have one.
    • Email alerts are free but data usage could apply if you check your email on your mobile device.
  3. What type of information can I get with My Verizon alerts?

    Data Usage Alerts

    All account members automatically get text and/or email alerts when they get near, meet or go over the account's data allowance. You can set more alerts, such as an alert when 50% of the monthly data is used.

    Keep in mind:

    • We don't send usage alerts for unlimited plans.
    • If you change your plan during a bill cycle, your usage alerts will be based on your partial (pro-rated) data allowance.
    • If you turn off communications about reaching or going over your account's allowance, you'll be asked to acknowledge that there could be financial risk from not getting those notifications (such as overage charges).

    Account Alerts

    You can set account alerts so you'll know when:

    • Your bill is ready
    • Your plan or features change
    • Your payments, credits or other transactions happened

  4. How do I change my alert preferences for my account?

    Manage alerts and notifications from the My Verizon Communications & Alerts Preferences page.

    My Verizon

    To get to the Communications & Alerts Preferences page, log in and choose either:

    • Data / Manage Usage Alerts
    • Account / Alert Settings
      • Make your updates under Manage my usage alerts or scroll down to the Manage my account alerts section.

    My Verizon app

    • To get to the Communications & Alerts page, from the menu in the upper left, choose Account then scroll to Preferences.
    • Choose the mobile number for which you want to manage alerts.

    On the Communications & Alerts preference page:

    • Expand an alert section to manage.
    • Check the box next to the phone number or email you want to get or not get alerts.
    • Save your changes.

  5. Can I add more email addresses or phone numbers to get alerts about my account?

    Yes, the Account Owner can add up to 3 mobile numbers and 3 email addresses to get alerts. These can be changed as needed.

    To add a new email address or mobile number to get alerts, log in to your My Verizon account using the line that's tied to that email address or mobile number.

    For example, if you're the account owner and want to add an email address for your child's mobile phone line so she can get email alerts, you'll have to log in to your My Verizon account on your child's mobile phone.

  6. I'm no longer a Verizon Wireless customer but I'm still getting notifications by text or email. Why is this?

    If you've canceled your service but are still receiving alerts, you might have an outstanding payment balance. To make your final payment, click the Chat with us button at the bottom right corner of this page to contact one of our representatives.
