Add a New Device - My Verizon Support

In My Verizon, you can create a new line of service on your account by purchasing a new device or adding a phone, tablet or other device you already own. Whether you have a child who’s ready for their first mobile phone or you just bought a new tablet that you want to connect to our 4G LTE network, you can add new lines to your account through My Verizon to meet your growing needs.

You’ll be guided through the steps to set up the device and add a line of service, including selecting the device, plan, features and accessories. Plus, we’ll only show the compatible plans, features and accessories for your device, so you can be sure you’re making the right choices.

Note: If you’re looking to switch to a new device without adding another line of service and phone number to your account, refer to our Activate or Switch Device page.

Prepaid accounts: This transaction isn’t currently available in My Verizon for Prepaid service. Please call (888) 294-6804 or visit a Verizon Wireless store to set up a new line of service.

  • How do I add a new device in My Verizon?
    To add a new device:

    1. Go to the Phones and Devices page in My Verizon. 
    2. Select the device you’d like to purchase.
    3. Select whether or not you want to add additional devices:

      • No, Continue to Plans - Select this option if you’re only adding one device.
      • Yes, Add More Devices - Select this option to add additional devices.

    4. Follow the prompts to select a plan, features and services, and accessories to complete your order.

    You’ve successfully added a new device.
  • How do I check the status of an order online?
    To check the status of an order:

    1. Go to the Check Order Status page in My Verizon.
    2. Enter the requested info and click Check Status.

    The status of the specified order will display.
  • Can I add a new device online if I have a pending order on my account?
    No, if you currently have a pending order on your account, you won’t be able to add, activate or upgrade a new device online until the pending order is complete.  Learn more at our Pending Orders Information page.

    Note: An Account Owner or Account Manager can request a pending order to be removed from an account by calling Customer Service at (800) 922-0204. Learn more about account access roles. If a pending order is removed, then it’s canceled and the order will have to be placed again.
