My Verizon App for Prepaid FAQs

These are FAQs about the new version of the My Verizon app for prepaid. If you're still using the old version, please go to our FAQs for the previous version of My Verizon for prepaid.

About the Redesign
  1. If you have the new version, you'll see this screen when you open the My Verizon app:

    If you don't see that screen, then you have the previous version of the app. You'll receive a notification to update soon. View FAQs for the previous version.



  2. The new My Verizon app for prepaid has an updated look and navigation. You can see your data usage, payment status and plan information right from the home screen. The new design makes it easier and faster to find the information and tools you use most.

    Plus, we've added some new features:

    • Enhanced Auto Pay: This feature uses funds from your existing balance first, and then it charges a credit or debit card to cover the rest of the plan and add-on costs. Learn more about the new Auto Pay feature and how to activate it.

    • International plans tab: This new tab on the My Plan screen lists international calling plans that you can add or remove at any time.


  3. You must be on one of the following smartphone plans to get the new prepaid My Verizon app:

    • $30 Monthly
    • $40 Monthly
    • $50 Monthly
    • $60 Monthly
    • $70 Monthly
    • $75 Monthly
    • $80 Monthly

    If you're not on one of these eligible plans, you can switch to a new plan to get access to the new version of the prepaid My Verizon app.



  4. If you're on an eligible plan, you'll receive a notification from the app store on your device letting you know that your My Verizon app needs to be updated:

    1. Tap the notification and follow the onscreen prompts to update My Verizon.
    2. Once it's updated, open the My Verizon app.
    3. Enter your prepaid mobile number and My Verizon password.

    You'll see the new version of the prepaid My Verizon app.



  5. There are a couple reason you may not have received the notification:

    • You're not on an eligible plan
    • Your prepaid account isn't ready to update yet

    A small number of prepaid accounts are being updated at a time to ensure the transition to the new version is smooth and easy for you. If you have an eligible plan, you should receive a notification in the next few weeks.

    Manually check for an update

    You can also search for "My Verizon" in the app store on your device to see if you're able to update your app:

    • If you see "UPDATE" next to the app in the search results, tap UPDATE and follow the onscreen prompts.
    • If you see "OPEN" instead of "UPDATE," your account isn't ready to receive the update.


Getting Started
  1. The My Verizon app lets you manage your account 24/7 right from your prepaid smartphone or tablet, including:

    • Make payments
    • Set up Auto Pay
    • Check your usage and balance
    • Add more high-speed Add On Data
    • Change your plan
    • Manage your features
    • Update profile settings
    • View your payment history

  2. The My Verizon app is included with your prepaid service for no additional charge.

    Data charges may apply for download and use.



  3. The My Verizon app is available for iPhone® and most Android® smartphones.



  4. If the My Verizon app isn't already in your Apps menu, you can search for "My Verizon" in your phone's app store:

    Then tap on the My Verizon app in the search results and download it.

    To sign in, you'll need to enter your prepaid mobile number and My Verizon Password. If you're not registered for My Verizon, tap I need to register on the app sign-in screen and follow the steps to create your account.



Enhanced Auto Pay
  1. The new Auto Pay feature will use your existing balance on your account first, if any is available at the time of renewal. Then it will charge a credit/debit card to cover the rest of the costs. Your Auto Pay aligns with your plan renewal date.

    You'll also be able to monitor your Auto Pay right from the home screen of the prepaid My Verizon app or online. You can easily see how much will be deducted and when.



  2. You must have the new version of the prepaid My Verizon app to use the enhanced Auto Pay feature.

    How do I know if I have the new version of the app?



  3. If you don't have Auto Pay set up on your account, you can set it up and manage it right from the home screen of the prepaid My Verizon app or online.

    If you already have Auto Pay set up on your account, you must make a change to Auto Pay (e.g., adjust the date, payment amount, etc.). Once you make a change, the enhanced Auto Pay feature will be activated.



  4. The Prepaid Auto Pay Terms & Conditions are available online.



Using the Previous Version of the Prepaid My Verizon app
  1. You can check your balance by signing in to the app and viewing Available Balance on the Home screen.

    For more detailed balance information:

    1. Tap the Navigation Menu icon (i.e., the three white bars at the top-left corner of the screen).
    2. Tap Balance Details.

    You've successfully found your balance details.



  2. You can view your data usage on the Home screen. We'll also alert you when you're close to your data limit.

    Check for alerts by tapping the Alert icon at the top-right corner of the screen.



  3. To view your payment history:

    1. From the app's Home screen, tap Payment.
    2. Tap Payment History.

    From here you can view details about your previous payments for the past 18 months. The details include the date, payment method and amount (including a detailed breakdown of applicable taxes and surcharges).



  4. There are three ways to add funds to your account. You can use a:

    • Credit card
    • Debit card
    • Verizon Wireless Refill card

    In addition, you can also save your credit or debit card to your account for future use.

    To make a payment:

    1. From the app's Payment page, tap Ways to Pay.
      • If you don't have a credit card on file, select:
      • A New Credit/Debit Card
      • Verizon Refill Card

      • If you'd like to use a card you have on file:
      • Select the card ending XXXX; Expires mm/yyyy

    2. Enter the dollar amount you'd like to add.
    3. Tap Add Funds.
    4. Review your payment and tap Confirm.

    Note: You can also make a payment from the Home screen by tapping Add Funds or by setting up Auto Pay.

    You've successfully made a payment on your account.



  5. We accept most major credit cards, including:

    • Visa®
    • Master Card®
    • American Express®
    • Discover®


  6. Yes, to save your credit or debit card to your account for future payments:

    1. From the app's Home screen, tap the Navigation Menu icon (i.e., three horizontal, white bars).
    2. Tap Payments.
    3. Tap Ways to Pay.
    4. Select the option with the credit card logos and enter your credit/debit card information.
    5. Tap Update.

    You've successfully saved a credit or debit card to your account.



  7. Tap Set Up Auto Pay on the Home screen of the app. You'll see the payment amount and plan renewal date when the payment will be made. The credit or debit card on your account will be charged accordingly each month.



  8. To change your plan in the My Verizon app:

    1. Tap the Navigation Menu icon (i.e., three horizontal, white bars).
    2. Tap Plan and Data.
    3. If you're eligible for a plan change, follow the prompts to select a new plan.

    You've successfully changed your plan.



  9. Many prepaid smartphone plans come with unlimited talk and text, but you can purchase additional data by tapping Add More Data on the app Home screen.



  10. To manage features on your account:

    1. Tap the Navigation Menu icon (i.e., three horizontal, white bars).
    2. Tap Features.
    3. Turn on the features you want on your account, and turn off the ones you don't.


  11. To change your user settings in the app:

    1. Tap the Navigation Menu icon (i.e., three horizontal, white bars).
    2. From the bottom of the menu, tap Settings.
    3. Select an option to update:
      • Contact information
      • My Verizon User ID
      • My Verizon password
      • Account Security Code
      • Security Question
      • Voicemail Password
      • Network Programs and Permissions
    4. Fill in the appropriate information.
    5. Tap Submit.

    You've successfully changed your user settings.
