How do I switch upgrades with someone else on my account?

If you have multiple devices on your account and an upgrade is eligible to transfer, you can transfer that upgrade eligibility to another line that isn't eligible yet. When you transfer eligibility from one line to another, the originally eligible line is no longer qualified to upgrade. This previously eligible line will then assume the upgraded line's existing contract ending date.

To transfer upgrade eligibility from one line to another line on your account:

    1. Go to the My devices page in My Verizon.

    2. Select a device identified as Upgrade eligible.

    3. Click Transfer upgrade.

Note: If the Transfer Upgrade link isn't appearing, you may not be eligible to transfer an upgrade at this time or you may not have a device that is eligible to transfer to.

    4. Select the mobile number you want to transfer to.

    5. Click Transfer.

What if I’m not eligible to upgrade?

You can upgrade to a device at retail price whenever you want; you don't need to be eligible. However, if you want to upgrade to a device using a monthly device payment agreement, you can switch your upgrade eligibility with another line on your account that is eligible.

To learn how, refer to the How to switch upgrade eligibility with someone else on my account section.

Note: There's a $30 upgrade fee if you purchase a new device at retail price or through the device payment program. This fee is in addition to the cost of the new device.
