The first thing you want to do is move your contacts, pictures and videos from your old phone to your new one. If you haven’t already backed up your contacts and media from your old phone, we recommend using Verizon Cloud or Backup AssistantSM Plus (on compatible phones). You can get 5 GB of free Verizon Cloud storage if you have the new Verizon Plan, The Verizon Plan or MORE Everything® Plan.
Use our Contact Transfer tool to check if your old and new devices are compatible with Verizon Cloud or Backup Assistant+ for transferring contacts.
If the Contact Transfer tool says you can’t use Verizon Cloud or Backup Assistant+ to transfer contacts or media to your new smartphone, don’t worry there are other easy-to-use options.
- Sync contacts with your Google/Gmail Account. This is a great way to transfer contacts between an Android phone and iPhone or between two Android phones. On your old device, sync your contacts with your Google account in the Settings menu. On your new device, add the same Google account in Settings and choose to sync your contacts. Your contacts will appear on your new smartphone.
- Backup and transfer media with Google Drive. With the Google Drive app for Android and iOS you can sync your pictures and video from your old phone and access them on your new one.
- Transfer contacts and media with the Move to iOS app. If you’re switching to iPhone from an Android phone, the Move to iOS app will transfer your contacts, pictures, videos and more.
If you have an Android or iPhone and are switching to a Windows Phone refer to the Moving from Android or iOS to Windows Phone page for information on transferring your contacts, media and more.
