Activate an Update - Family Locator

Caution Effective 5/13/19, Family Locator will be discontinued and transitioned to Verizon Smart Family™. Refer to these FAQs for more info.

Note Notes:

  • Ensure the Family Locator member app has been installed on the locatee device before performing these steps. Refer to Download and Install Family Locator for additional assistance.
  • Only the Account Owner or an Account Manager with full online access can perform these steps. Refer to Account Roles for additional info.


  1. From a computer, visit Family Safeguards & Controls.
  2. Click View Details & Edit (located on the right in the Family Locator section).
  3. Click Locate Your Family.
    Click Locate Your Family
  4. From the Updates tab, click Activate (located next to the family member).
  5. Click Activate.
